Never in the history of R.A. Long sports have two brothers competed at a State Tournament in the same year, in the same sport and won 1st and 2nd place in their respective divisions.  

Both brothers participated in wrestling all three years while attending R.A. Long and both received the team MVP award in their senior year.  Richard also competed in Cross Country Track and won the “Most Inspirational” award for that sport.

Kamber has become noted in three different sports in her career: basketball, soccer, and track.  She found that R.A. Long had a weakness in the goalkeeper position and felt that she could help the team most in that spot. In her freshman year she posted 288 saves, 42 of them in one game against Hudson’s Bay, and went on to be elected to the first team all-conference as goalkeeper. Kamber continued on to be elected her team captain, MVP, and voted most inspirational player.

Dean was born in Oklahoma and the family moved from Oklahoma to Washington when he was one.  Dean graduated from R.A. Long High School in 1952 where he participated in football, basketball and baseball.  Dean was elected 2nd team “All-League” and 3rd team “All-League” in his 2 years of participating in basketball.  After high school graduation,

Shirley (Puppe) Agodoa was born in Grand Forks, North Dakota.  Her family moved to Longview where her father worked for the Postal Service and then later accepted a teaching position when the Mark Morris High school was opened.  She attended St. Helen’s Elementary, Kessler, Monticello, and RA Long High School.  She started playing Clarinet in the Band while at Kessler and continued through High School, receiving the ‘Outstanding Music’ Award in her senior year.

Verona takes great pride in her educational past in Longview schools, especially at R.A. Long. She attended CVG. Kessler, as well as RAL.  She has always given credit to many of the teachers along the way.  Miss Johnson and Miss Fenstermacher in art classes. Verona says that their teaching came in handy when she became a graphic artist in the television world.  Muriel Albert taught her about drama in the Children’s Theatre Plays she produced.  She was given leading rolls which helped her be unafraid in later television appearances.
