"The Dream" Restoration

One of the early projects completed by the Association was the restoration of "The Dream" painting. The painting is displayed in the library. Over the years, dirt, grime, and poor display techniques resulted in a painting that needed some help. We worked with a fine art conservationist to clean and properly mounting the painting. "The Dream" was painted by Robert Wadsworth Grafton. The painting is intended to represent R.A. Long's vision of a modern, planned city. It was presented at the school's dedication.

The Daily News covered the restoration project. Their story provides excellent detail about the restoration process in addition to several photographs of the process.

The Daily News Stories About "The Dream"

Restoring "The Dream" has been among our most costly projects to date. Several members made very generous donations to supplement funds from normal membership dues and merchandise sales.
