Steve Vogel was born and raised in Longview, he attended Northlake Elementary and Monticello Middle School. He played football, basketball and baseball while at Monticello. By the time Steve was in high school there was no doubt in anyone's mind who he was when he walked on the football or track fields and the basketball court. He stood out at 6 ft. 6 in. tall, there were not many that could compare to that.  On the football team he played three years on the football team and was the starting varsity linebacker/defensive end his junior and senior years; he was a member of the 1967 undefeated R.A. Long football team and as a member of that team was inducted into the Hall of Fame under the team category.  Steve was named to the All Conference team and received the Johnny HammerAward his senior year. He was a starter on the basketball team for three years, his senior year was voted as the Most Improved and the Most inspirational. Steve also participated in track his senior year as a member of the record setting 1600 relay team. Steve was on the tennis team his sophomore and junior years. From R.A. Long he went on to Grays Harbor Junior College for two years. While playing football there Grays Harbor won the State Championship. Steve also played basketball one year at Grays Harbor then transferred to Boise State College. While at Boise State Steve was a two year starter defensive lineman on the football team and was voted to the Third Team AllAmerican in his senior year. He received his BA in Education in 1973 while at Boise State. Then earned a MA in Education Administration in 1987 from the University of Idaho. Steve worked as a graduate assistant for football at BSC in 1972 and 1973. 1973 - 1974 he taught at Sunset High School in Beaverton, Oregon. From 1974 to 2005 Steve taught in the Boise School District at Capital High School the following positions; Physical Education Department Head, Head Baseball and Football coach, Asst. Track coach, SAT Team - Dealt with students going into and coming out of drug and alcohol Rehabilitation. During his years attending college and teaching Steve earned the following awards; All Big Sky Football selection, Coaches All American Game selection, NFL Draft selection, Lifetime Membership BSU Alumni Association, six time Third District Coach of the Year, Lifetime Third District Coaches Membership, Capital High School Coaches Hall of Fame, Idaho representative to NFL Youth Summit and Coaches Rep to the Football Officials Review Board. Steve is currently working with Titan Property Management. Steve and his wife have raised two sons Ty and Kyle, both of whom are engineers.
