Tom Spellmeyer was a member of the infamous undefeated 1967 football team and lettered in football and track his 3 years at R.A. Long. Tom was named to the All Conference football team his senior year and was also named the All Conference Safety that year with 48 safe$'s. Tom excelled and lettered in track as well. Tom was the District Champion in the 120 and 180 hurdles and placed 3Rd at State in the 120 hurdles. He holds the R.A. Long record for the 120 hurdles at 14.6 and was named to the All Conference Team his junior and senior years. Tom went on to Whitworth College and played football and track there. Tom has worked for the school district in various capacities, as Asst. Football coach from 1992 to 2000. He was the Asst. Varsity Football coach from 2002-2004 seasons. Tom was the Asst. Baseball coach from 2007 to 2010, in 2009 the team took 2nd at the State Tournament. Tom has attended the WIAA Rules Interpretation Certification Clinic, he adheres to the coach's code of ethics, abides by and has a thorough understanding of the regulations of the WIAA contest rules of baseball. He works as an activity supervisor at basketball games. Tom actively enhances sportsmanship and is working closely with advisors, spectators and the umpire officials. Tom is a passionate supporter of R.A. Long and has worked as a para-educator in special education for 12 years. He is currently doing some coaching at Monticello Middle School. Tom and his wife Cathy raised two sons, Pat and Jesse who also attended R.A. Long. Their sons were standout athletes while in high school and went on to play baseball in college. They have a daughter in-law, Beth Spellmeyer, who is currently the R.A. Long Athletic Trainer.  It appears the Spellmeyer family is destined to continue at R.A. Long in the future. With this induction into the Hall of Fame, Tom will be joining his wife Cathy who was inducted in 2004 for Lifetime Achievement.
