Tom McCormick graduated from RA Long High School in 1952.  He is married to Karen McCormick who is now a retired RN.  They have three adult children, Richard, Lindsey and Suzanne and two grandchildren Rick Jr. and Shannon.   After high school Tom went on to achieve extraordinary heights in his faith driven career.  He attended Northwest Christian College and University of Oregon 1956 - majored in religion- and earning a Bachelors Degree at Divinity School, Drake University 1960 in counseling - Masters  Degree.  Perkins School of Theology, Southern Methodist University, 1976  Bioethics– Doctorate.  Fellow in Medical Ethics Program, Institute of Religion and Human Development, Texas Medical Center. Houston Texas 1972-1973.  Took an  advanced Program in Counseling, at Pastoral Institute of Washington 1973-1974.  Received a Fellow in Ethics and Human Values Program, University of Tennessee, Memphis Tennessee April-June 1980.  In his academic and professional life he has been a senior lecturer, adjunct professor, counselor, director of counseling for several universities, which include the University of Washington School of Medicine, University School of Medicine, Glendale Branch, Glendale, Arizona. He spent two weeks in Japan teaching at several universities; Kyorin University, Hachioji, Japan , Kyorin School of Medicine, University of Tokyo Law School, Tokyo. Hyogo School of  Medicine, Osaka, Japan. School of Nursing, Osaka, Japan.  Tom has received several honors for his ongoing exemplary work.  There are too many to list.  A few of the highlights are as follows:  

  • Certificate of Appreciation -Kyorin Medical Society, Mitaka, Japan for Spirituality in Medicine.
  • Honorary “Doctor of Humanities” degree by Northwest Christian University, Eugene, OR for outstanding service and education in the field of bioethics.
  • University of Washington, Nominated for the Outstanding Teacher’s Award, two years.
  • Academic Scholarship Award-Southern Methodist University
  • Drake University Scholarship Award

Tom is an accomplished writer and has several publications.  In his spare time he enjoys hobbies such as fishing, woodworking, travel and reading.
