Jim earned a varsity letter in wrestling all 4 years at R.A. Long and had the distinction of being unbeaten during his senior year of wrestling.  Jim along with 4 of his team mates were     contenders in only the 2nd State Tournament during his senior year.  Jim was the only one on the team to win a State Championship, which was for the 127 lb. class.  The team took 5th overall at that state tournament.  Jim also played football his sophomore and junior years and was a member of the 1952, Hall of Fame, Championship Football team.  After high school Jim attended the University of Hawaii and graduated in 1961 with a Bachelor of Education degree.  He went on to receive a Masters degree in Aerospace Operations Management and Public Administration from the University of Southern California, Los Angeles.  Jim joined the military as an enlisted infantryman with the 82nd Airborne Division.  In 1963, as a distinguished graduate of Officer Training School, he was commissioned a second lieutenant in the regular Air Force.  After more schooling and training, Jim went on to fly combat missions from Anderson Air Force Base in Guam into Viet Nam.  Jim was promoted to Colonel in 1986 and after a stellar military career spanning three decades he retired.   He and his wife Dolores have two children: Christina Marie and Timothy Michael and live locally and is active in several civic organizations.
