Jim Fisher excelled in both swimming and track during his years at R.A. Long. He was a member of the varsity swimming team in 1962, ‘63 and ‘64 and was the SWW 4A district springboard diving champion in 1963 and 1964. Jim was best remembered for his outstanding track and field performances in 1962, ‘63 and ‘64 while at R.A. Long. He was a SWW pole vault champion in 62, 63 & 64, he broke the school pole vault record seven times and had a best of 14 feet 1 inch. Jim went on to the University of Washington and competed on the varsity track & field team, earning school letters for 1966, ‘67 and ‘68. He received a UW athletic scholarship for track in 1966 and 1968. He was the #1 UW varsity pole vaulter for all Pac 10 track meets in 1966, ‘67’ and ‘68’. Jim qualified for NCAA championships in 1968 and had a career best vault of 16 feet 6 inches. Jim went on to earn a Bachelor of Science in zoology with a minor in chemistry. He has spent his working career in the field of Environmental Compliance first with Weyerhaeuser Company and the last 15 years as owner/principal of Fisher & Associates, LLC providing environmental consulting services to clients throughout North America.
