Greg Kangas was one of the best runners to come out of R.A. Long High School and participated on the track and cross country team at the varsity level all three of his high school years.  Greg was voted All League, All District and the high school MVP in track.  He competed at the state level and took 3rd in the 800 meter run and was the state champion in the 1600 meters.  In cross country he competed at State, was voted All League and high school MVP.  Greg went on to further his education at the Highline Community College, while there he of course was competing in both track and cross country.  Greg attended the University of Idaho from 1978 – 1979 and was the number one distance runner in both sports his junior year.  Greg ran in the 1979 Rotary Relays and ran the 1600 m in 4:10.3, which is still the fastest 1600m time ever at the Longview Memorial Stadium. In 1982 while enrolled at the University of Washington he was voted their number one runner in both track and cross country.  After college, Greg ran for the “Club Northwest” Track Club which is a large AAU Club based in Seattle.  Greg lives in Seattle and currently manages an Athlete Foot Store.
