Cindy Musgrove was one of the most outstanding female athlete’s to attend R.A. Long. Cindy was on the track team 1973, ‘74 and ‘75 and tennis team 1972, 73 and 74, she was on the first girls league basketball team in 1974 and 1975 (basketball wasn’t offered to girls at R.A. Long until 1974 after the Title IX amendment passed in 1972). Whatever Cindy competed in she put 100% of herself into it, which accounted for her excelling in each of the sports. For track in 1973 she took 1st place in the Javelin at the State Competition. In 1975 she took 1st place at State in the high jump and 3rd place in the long jump. She was voted the Most Valuable Athlete on the team in 1973, ’74 and ’75 and still holds the school record for girls in the high jump at 5 foot 6 inches and the indoor record of 4 feet 10 inches. In 1975 the girls track team won the annual Tri~School track meet for the first time and in that same year the girls track team placed 4th overall at State. She was named MVP in both tennis and basketball in 1975 and was listed in the “Who’s Who in High School” for 1975. Cindy went on to Oregon College of Education (currently Western Oregon University) and was a standout athlete for the college. She was on the track team for one year in 1976, the basketball team all four years 1976 through 1979, the softball team 1977, and ’78 and the volleyball team 1978 and ’79. In 1980 she was listed in the “Who’s Who Among Students in American Universities & Colleges”. Cindy is currently employed as a Certified Professional Buyer.
