Carol was not only a scholastic leader while attending R.A. Long, she was also an athlete competing in both track and cross country.  She lettered in both sports all four years in high school, in cross country she was voted Most Improved her junior year and Most Inspirational her senior year.  She participated in the State Tournament her sophomore year.  Carol was also quite active in several clubs while enrolled at R.A. Long, she was ASB president her senior year, secretary of the Rooterjacks, an officer in FHA she was part of the group to attend conference  at Central Washington University.  As one of those politically inclined students, Carol was part of the Presidential Classroom and got the opportunity to observe the government first hand by spending one week in Washington D.C.  After high school Carol attended the University of Washington earning a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration.  She went on to the Golden Gate University School of Law receiving a Juris Doctorate in 1991, while at Golden Gate she was Managing Editor of the Golden Gale Law Review.  She was also an instructor in the Street Law Program, teaching basic law to an intercity middle school class.  Under the Office of the Attorney General, Olympia, Carol served in various positions.  1991 she accepted the position of Assistant Attorney General, Corrections Division, 1994 she became Assistant Attorney General, Social and Health Services.  1995 Carol changed jobs again becoming the Assistant Attorney General, Torts Division, in 2000 she moved to Asst. Attorney General, Criminal Justice Division and in 2005 she became Deputy Solicitor General.  Carol moved to the Thurston County Superior Court in 2009 as a Superior Court Judge and in 2011 became the Presiding Judge, DUI/Drug Court.   Carol has represented some significant cases over the years: In re Higgins; argued before the Washington Supreme Court in 2004: York v. Wahkiakum School District No. 200; argued before Washington Supreme Court in 2007: Hallett v. Payne; argued before the Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.  Carol currently continues to serve as a Superior Court Judge for Thurston County.  She is also active in several civic and service organizations in the Olympia area.
