Bill Niemi was an outstanding track and cross country runner while attending R.A. Long.  Bill lettered all three years in both sports.  In 1968 Bill’s junior year in track he was the District Champion in the mile run, in his senior year he set a school record, which still stands, for the 800m run at 1:54.9.  He placed 13th in the mile at the state championships his junior year, and 6th  in the 800m at the State Championships in his senior year, was on the District 1600 relay championship team in 1969 his senior year.  He was voted All League 2 years and Captain and MVP of the team his senior year.  In Cross country Bill competed at the State Championships both his junior and senior year.  After high school, Bill went on to Lower Columbia College earned an AA degree and participated in track.  Bill enrolled at Washington State University to complete his education and was on the track team for two years there and during that time he was part of the Pacific 8 conference champions in track and cross country.  Bill earned his BA and MBA from Washington State University.  He has been employed by Mercedes Benz USA since 1982 at both the manufacturing level and the retail level.  Bill is presently the General Manager at the Mercedes-Benz of Wilsonville, Oregon, and has won numerous Regional and National awards over the years.  Bill’s wife is Connie, they have 3 grown children and 3 grandchildren.
