The question in everyone’s mind was can the Jill’s persevere for the third year in a row. The 1985 version of the Lumberjill Volleyball team promised to be an exciting one. The challenge defending the consecutive League, District and State Championships, combined with the formation of the greater St. Helens Conference and the tremendous competitive challenge that it represented, had the Jills entering the 85’ season with great anticipation. The Jills were led by returning All Conference performers; Judy Galovin and Captain Pam McNamara and a supporting senior cast of Kris Harmon Georgia Davison, Brenda Grimes, Mary Beth Rheaume, and Sandy Taylor. The Jills were successful in winning the St. Helens Conference Title, District IV Title and securing a third AA State Championship Title. The 1985 Lumberjills had 3 girls named to the All Conference Team; Pam McNamara, Roberta Mawae and Judy Galovin. Honorable Mentions were Brenda Grimes and Sandy Taylo, the MVP award went to Roberta Mawae and Bill Marshall was named Coach of the Year.
