There are quite a few team members who participated on both the 1952 and 1953 basketball teams at the same time. It is special to be undefeated at any time, but to have two undefeated league seasons two years in succession is very rare. At the end of each season, the teams went to the state tournament at the University of Washington where they each placed in the top eight teams. For the 1951-52 team, whose record was 18 wins and six losses for the season, went undefeated in the league, and went two wins and two losses in the state tourney to place seventh at state. Vern Westrick was named second team All-State and Gary Earnest was a third team selection, with LeRoy Nelson sharing scoring honors for RAL in the tourney.
