The 1950 S.W. Washington League which was very tough and competitive league.  The Jacks’ league results were as follows:

  Longview 10 – Vancouver 9;
  Longview 7 – Hoquiam 13;
  Longview 16 – Olympia 0;
  Longview 0 – Aberdeen 0;
  Longview 43 – Centralia 0;
  Longview 7 – Kelso 6.

The Lumberjacks scored 205 points in the ten games, an average of 20.5 points per game.  The defense gave up only 40 points in the ten games, averaging only four points scored against them per game.  Their outstanding defense shut out six of the ten teams played.  That year R.A. Long was rated 5th in the state rankings with most sports writers and fans thinking it should have been ranked higher.   The team was relatively small in stature but great in pride, teamwork, determination and toughness.  After 64 years several of the surviving seventeen members of that outstanding team will be present to receive their awards as this outstanding team takes its place in the Hall of Fame.
